Never Give Up, the Electrofux short history

Rudolph Herdiman a.k.a ELECTROFUX, started his music career in the early 90’s. Without any knowledge in music, he started with an acoustic guitar, switch to electric guitar then to bass. He always wanted to play drums but his hands & feet are just too suck that can’t be synchronized. He also wanted to go to music schools but just couldn’t afford. Later on, he almost gave up everything because he is getting nowhere but in the end, a friend of his introduced a drum-machine which happened to a ROLAND/BOSS-DR550. At first, he had doubts with electronic music machinery because it looks so fucking complex to learn. But then his strong passion of music leads him to stay in front of his new toy days and nights figuring out those strange buttons. He never give up, he kept on trying until he finally understood the mechanism of a drum-machine

Itself, Why, Where, When & How.

So he work like a dog that he finally could afford to buy his own drum-machine. It was ROLAND/BOSS-DR660. So he started programming by trials & errors, the do’s & the don’t’s. Finally he mastered something that he thought it couldn’t be done. As years grew by, many different types drum-machines was made & he got his hands on a ROLAND/MC-303. But he realizes it’s actually a sequencer where he could blend in drums, bass, synths, strings, etc. His spirits grew stronger started to crave for more equipments & bought off from a friend another sequencer, a different brand, a YAMAHA/QY-300. But different brands of equipments means different technical know how. So he kept on programming, learning combinations of sequencers through MIDI. After years of learning his equipments, he decided to call his band ELECTROFUX & why ELECTROFUX because to him it meant “HE WHO FUCKS AROUND WITH ELECTRONIC MUSIC EQUIPMENT TOO MUCH.”

Bandung, West Java, was his inspirations where friends, bands, lifestyle during the late 90’s were at its best. His mission is to spread ELECTRONIC MOVEMENT in Indonesia. He expands his knowledge through live gigs, tours & clubs. He takes advices from people who know more in sounds & installations field, learning from mistakes which became a valuable part of knowledge to him. As the millennium came, computer software became one of popular demand & he learn how to use them but the feeling is different from hardware but nevertheless it’s still electronic. Through there where he started remixing other bands music, from metal to pop, from shoegaze to rock. He builds a certain reputation. All the tips, tricks & trades about electronic he will explain to people even if he doesn’t know who they were because in his heart always tells him if he cares, he will share to anyone. Always inspire people to create electronic music & he made couple of project bands such as Jaggerboy, Transistor, and Rock & Roll Mafia (RNRM).

At the end of 2001 he decided to move to the island of the gods, Bali. He was introduced to Steven Palmer a legendary Australian surfer who owns a shop call SURFER GIRL that offered a job to play in his shop. Eversince then ELECTROFUX is still working there & met a young & talented Ronald Ambarita of whom he became part of ELECTROFUX team.
